Fukuzawa Yukichi Frame:blackPortrait of a Japanese man named Fukuzawa Yukichi, a samurai and officer on the 1862 Takenouchi mission to Europe, employed as an interpreter of Dutch and English. He is pictured wearing traditional dress of kimono and is carrying a wakizashi (short sword). Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
